Flooring failures are almost never flooring failures. Tile cracks because the subfloor deflects. Vinyl plank telegraphs every dip because the slab was not flattened first. Wood cups because moisture came up from below and nobody tested for it. So the useful part of this job happens before a single box is opened. Hanford homes give us two different starting conditions. The newer tracts on the edges of town are slab-on-grade, which means moisture testing and flatness are the questions, and any unevenness has to be ground or floated rather than shimmed. The older housing closer to downtown tends to be raised foundation over a crawlspace, where the questions are joist spacing, deflection and whether the existing subfloor panels are sound enough to build on or need a layer added. Neither condition is worse. They just call for different prep, and prep is where the money either gets spent properly or gets skipped and paid for again in three years. Material choice follows that assessment rather than leading it. If the room is a bathroom or a kitchen, moisture behavior moves up the list of priorities. If it is a slab with a flatness problem, some materials tolerate it and some will not.
We test moisture on slab installations and check deflection on raised foundations before quoting material. The written scope names the prep required, the underlayment or membrane specified, and the movement joint layout on tile work. Transitions between rooms and to existing flooring get detailed in advance, because that is the most common place a flooring job looks unfinished. On bathroom and kitchen installations we coordinate the flooring stage with plumbing so fixtures are not set on a floor that still has to come up.
Larger remodeling projects that include lower-level living spaces may also benefit from professional Egress Window Installation to improve natural light, emergency access, and code-compliant safety.

Establishes moisture, flatness and structural soundness before any material is chosen.
Requires proper underlayment and movement joints to prevent cracking over time.
Tolerates moisture well but reveals every subfloor imperfection underneath it.
Ten services, from a tub-to-shower conversion that finishes in a week to an ADU conversion that carries its own plan review. They are not the same kind of project and they do not price the same way. Start with the one that matches what you actually want changed.

Five communities beyond Hanford, and they do not share a permit counter. Armona and Home Garden are unincorporated, so their permits route through Kings County. Lemoore and Corcoran run their own building departments. Goshen sits in Tulare County entirely. We know which door each job goes through before we quote it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Kitchen and Bathroom Remodeling can be complex, and we’re here to provide answers to common questions. Here are some frequently asked questions from our clients.
There is no single price for a Hanford bathroom remodel, and any number quoted before someone looks behind your wall is a placeholder. Cost follows whether fixtures move, whether the supply and waste lines get replaced while the wall is open, and what the permit scope turns out to be. A refresh that keeps the toilet, tub and vanity where they are and a remodel that relocates the drain are different jobs with different inspections. We price after a walkthrough.
Kitchen cost is driven by three decisions before it is driven by anything else: whether the cabinets get refaced or replaced, whether the layout changes, and what goes on the counters. Refacing existing boxes and installing a full new run are separated by more than materials, because a layout change pulls in plumbing and electrical work and the permit that comes with it. Tell us which of the three you are actually considering and we can narrow the range quickly.
Usually yes, once the work goes past finishes. Swapping a vanity top or retiling a wall generally does not trigger one; moving a fixture, altering supply or waste lines, changing the electrical, or replacing a shower pan generally does. Permits for homes inside the city go through the City of Hanford Building Division, and all submittals now have to meet the 2025 California Building Code. We pull the permit as part of the job rather than leaving it with you.
Schedule follows the inspection sequence, whether fixtures move, and lead times on tile, glass and any special-order vanity. A single-room refresh in the existing footprint and a remodel that relocates the drain are not comparable timelines. Rough-in inspection has to clear before walls close, and that step sets the pace on most jobs. We give a date range in the written scope and tell you which item is most likely to move it.
It depends which community the house sits in, which catches a lot of people out here. Homes inside Hanford permit through the City of Hanford Building Division, while Armona and Home Garden are unincorporated and route through the Kings County Community Development Agency instead. Lemoore and Corcoran each run their own building departments, and Goshen sits in Tulare County entirely. We confirm the correct authority before the walkthrough, not after the plans are drawn.
Ask for the CSLB license number and check it yourself on the state board's site. Then ask two things most homeowners skip: who pulls the permit, and whether the crew doing the work is the contractor's own or subbed out job by job. A contractor who pulls the permit under their own license is on the hook for the inspection. One who asks you to pull it as the owner is moving that liability to you.
Tile and quality luxury vinyl plank both hold up well, and the choice usually comes down to the subfloor rather than the room. Tile needs a stiff, flat substrate and proper movement joints or it will crack regardless of quality. Vinyl plank tolerates moisture and movement better but shows every low spot underneath. We assess what is under the floor first, then narrow the material list to what will actually last on it.
Usually, and it is worth doing even when a material claims it can go over the top. Removal is the only way to see the subfloor, and the subfloor is what determines whether the new installation lasts. Layering also raises the finished height, which creates door clearance and transition problems that are awkward to solve afterward. Occasionally an existing layer is sound and flat enough to stay, and we will tell you if that is the case.
Prep drives the schedule more than installation does. A slab that needs grinding and floating, or a raised floor that needs an added subfloor layer, adds days before anything gets laid. Tile also needs cure time between setting and grouting that cannot be compressed. We give a range in the written scope and name which prep item is most likely to extend it.
Yes, and sequencing it correctly matters. Flooring generally goes in after rough-in plumbing has been inspected and before fixtures are set, so the toilet flange sits at the finished height and the vanity lands on the finished surface. Installing flooring around fixtures that are already set is the shortcut that produces visible gaps later. We plan the order in the scope document.

We pride ourselves on delivering great results and experiences for each client. Hear directly from home and business owners who’ve trusted us with their Kitchen and Bathroom Remodeling needs.

Our house is one of the older ones near China Alley and the shower pan had been leaking into the subfloor for who knows how long. They opened it up, showed us the cast-iron waste line underneath, and explained what replacing it would mean before we agreed to anything. No pressure either way.

We did a full kitchen in our place out at Autumn Estates at Live Oak. New cabinets, new counters, the whole thing. They handled the permit with the City of Hanford Building Division and the inspection passed first time, which our neighbor tells us is not a given around here.

My mother needed her tub taken out and a walk-in shower put in so she could stay in the house. They came out, took the sizes off the room, and told us straight that the drain would not have to move, which kept it affordable. Done in under two weeks and she uses it every day.
